The Artist (Spoken Word) Lyrics by Willy J “The Prisoner of Hope”
The Art Mixtape (Remastered)
2014
You know we've seen so many artists throughout our lifetime That are still remembered to this day Picasso, Rembrandt, Da Vinci And their body of work is stuff of legends Museums will pay top dollar to have their work But what we don't know is that us, ourselves are works of art This world, is a work of art And the artist is still very much alive The artist? the most articulate, detail orientated designer in all existence From his agricultural skill to his design of the animal kingdom From the beautiful and lush designs and taste of vegetation To life source of water and all of it's inhabitation The ever jaw dropping sky when he lowers the sun Revealing a star jeweled night that some still wish upon The creator of sound, music and melody When baby cries out for mama to asking "will you marry me?" He created the mountains and all earthly terrains From the scorching desserts to the forest where it rains He carefully crafted time with greater and lesser lights He also created creativity my proof? A light bright He created storm clouds that carry thunder and lightning Which we harvested ourselves but still find it frightening He crafted man in his image with immaculate hands he shaped And breathed into him, his eyes opened he was awake Adam was his name and he was laid back to sleep And from his rib a woman was made and her name was Eve Many say his art is corrupt full of hate and war But we must remember that we live in a fallen world But this does not make his craft any less awe inspiring Our simple mind can't frame the masterpiece in it's entirety Our lifetime has seen many great artists arrive Picasso and Rembrandt still remembered beyond their lives But Yahweh's art represents a living King All designed to bring him worship, every little thing Trees wave in praise when wind pushes and guides The oceans wave praise whether low or high tide The angels the elders who cast crowns at his feet He also created the voices that sing "Holy, Holy, Holy" He created his son Jesus the Messiah Who would come down and save us from an eternal fire The most gruesome execution brought the most beautiful salvation But you must be truly humble for it to have your appreciation Jesus was a carpenter who worked in sweat He worked with wood only to later in life be nailed to it That is a portrait of unconditional love Don't you understand? You are his most precious masterpiece created by his hands Let his love stain your canvas and leave his mark in you That you are a valued piece of art regardless of issue Your skin color was selected by God's palate Ebony, Ivory all in between was crafted immaculate No tattoos or radical hair color or pierced skin Will deter God's love, you are considered his kin So embrace your imperfections that act can be the hardest The next time you look in a mirror say you're a piece from an artist Yes, the earth in all it's natural beauty is wonderous But we are unique pieces of art and he wants to be one with us And the bride is being crafted as she awaits, he's where her heart is Longing to be with the lover of her soul, her artist
