Intermission II Lyrics by ZACH! (USA)

In A Relative Way

2021

[Verse]
Take a break from the story this is the intermission
John I really hope you listen
It's 2021 I wish you weren't missin'
I wish a lot of things upon a star
But when it floats away, I never feel different
I met you in the sixth grade
You were still my size before you grew like you were 6'8
Could've been an athlete, but I befriended you cause we were in plays
Two kids alone, bro, we've been saved
4 years later we spend a summer out in Scotland to perform
That summer north was never warm
We took our jackets and huddled under the stage we got rained on
Funny how another year passes to the same songs!
In the summer 17, we visited the old theatre
Bankrupt, closed, and shut down, we drove to see a
Space on sale!
We dreamed of moving to LA
So when we make some money we could go back and buy the space
For kids who feel like they ain't found a friend yet
Someone they ain't met yet
Where they don't treat you less than
I think I lost my best friend
I've turned into a mess man, I smoke too much...
And if time is relative
I take a hit to chase the feeling of what it was
But flash forward, 2020, see us, we're out in Paris
Different people now and man the distance was so apparent
You asked to go to Scotland that same week
I know that I ain't weak
I know you wanted closure, but my skeletons can't speak
So I kept it quiet, that's just what I did
Shut it out, ignore the problem, just to feel good again
Instead, I lost the man that I should've been
Instead, I lost the friend that I grew up with
Where'd you go?
[Outro]
You can't pretend it's gonna go away
Ben, you said it yourself, It comes back every 27 years
Fine! I'll be 40 and far away from here
I thought you said you wanted to get out of this town, too?
Because I wanna run towards something... not away!
