The Holy Scriptures Lyrics by Zae Da Blacksmith

The Mosaic Mixtape

2012

[Intro: Through Hymn]
Hey, what's up, y'all. This is Through Hymn. You are now listening to the Mosaic Mixtape by Zae da Blacksmith, presented by DJ Average Joe, bringing that lyrical theology and elemental classic hip-hop

[Sample 1: Kevin DeYoung]
And I want to suggest that as Christians, we must not concede that fallen, human reason is the starting point for trying to prove that the scripture is the Word of God

[Verse 1: Zae da Blacksmith]
The Holy Scriptures, come look at the Book
To get some depictions of what we say we believe as Christians
About what has been written in its pages
We hold to the fact that the Lord has been preserving them for ages
He made them using man's hands to display them
He gave them inspiration for prophets to save them
[It means?] that when God breathed, so when I read
It means I can now see what His mind speaks
They can reach ya, correct ya
Teach ya and check ya
They make us men of God complete by its lectures
So please don't neglect 'em
Believe and accept 'em
Check 2nd Timothy 3:16 for lessons
Then slide over to 2nd Peter 1, verse 19
And read until the chapter's done, observe the hype scene
The Lord's given us His Word to observe it
So we can live amongst the world and fervently serve Him

[Sample 2: Kevin DeYoung]
Would you read this with me? Would you listen if you hear God's voice. Wasn't it Spurgeon who said he spent less time defending the Bible because he felt the Bible was like a tiger in a cage. And you could bring someone to the cage and say, "Well look, it has stripes. It has teeth--" or you could open the cage, let the animal out, and they would know it was a tiger!

[Verse 2: Zae da Blacksmith]
Chapter 2, verse 13 of 1st Thessalonians
They received the Word of God for what we should know it as
These are the very words of God with no flaws
Proverbs 30, verses 5 and 6, plus Psalms
19:7, it's right there, brethren
Or turn the page to Isaiah 55:11
The Word is effective and directed from Heaven
So it should be obeyed and respected with reverence
That's straight out of James chapter 1, 22
And you can't take away from or add to the truth
Chapter 4, verse 2 in the book of Deuteronomy
A perfect guide for life, Proverbs 6:23
And Hebrews 4:12, the Word is straight powerful
You see it's fully capable to save or devour you
Romans 16:26, peep it, son
Read and sy why we preach the scripts to reach everyone (one)

[Sample 3: Kevin DeYoung]
The scriptures are the glasses by which we see who God is and what we're like. I love this quote from C.S. Lewis. He says, "I believe in Christianity as I believe that the sun has risen -- not only because I see it, but because by it I see everything else."

[Verse 3: Zae da Blacksmith]
Yo, the Word is true and it's pure
Righteous rules that endure
Check Psalms 12:6 to get proof from the source
In [division?] 119, verse 160
And John 17:17, work with me
And read them red letters on that page intently
From the mouth that spit the hottest written verses in history
Psalms 19:10, the Word is like a jam
Precious like a treasure, you can never span to the end, my friend
The Word is sweet, a lamp to my feet
A light to my path, and my milk and my meat
It's food for my soul for sure, like Jeremiah
Who was told by the Lord his scrolls are on fire
Like a hammer that breaks stones, and boulders go flying
Like a sword that was forged from smoldering-hot iron
So never mind what the world might teach or tell
About this holy book, y'all, 'cause it can speak for itself
Yeah

[Sample 4: Kevin DeYoung]
Jesus quotes Deuteronomy to the Devil three times. The Son of God, God incarnate, quotes the Bible to do battle with the Devil -- and three times says, "It is written." That's his authority
