What’s My Role In The Afterlife? Lyrics by ZTG

Running Nowhere To Get Somewhere

2023

[Verse 1]
Ten years old, miserable
Thought it was the end of the world
My angel's gone, the devil's here, now my whole life is in a whirl
Locked up in my room all day avoiding everything
Tried to shield my eyes so I wouldn't see the wedding ring
Saw my father on cigs everyday, I guess we coped in different ways
Said I wanted to pass away, not normal for a ten year old to say
What was on my mind?
Now I'm gonna say what was on my mind
[Chorus]
Now I'm on the other side, trying to decide
What's my role in the aftеrlife?
Wasn't scared to die, mom was on my mind
Wantеd to see her one more time, spoke to myself in the dark
Cause one understood my heart
Now I'm on the other side, trying to decide
What's my role in the afterlife?
[Verse 2]
I was tired of the fake apologies
Cause it really brought out your worst qualities
Every time you said sorry, you'd go back to the way you were
And every time I said it's alright, that shit was not sincere
You heard my mother's spirit talk to me in my sleep
Did you happen to take a peek? What did she say?
I'll see her again someday
[Chorus]
Now I'm on the other side, trying to decide
What's my role in the afterlife?
Wasn't scared to die, mom was on my mind
Wanted to see her one more time, spoke to myself in the dark
Cause one understood my heart
Now I'm on the other side, trying to decide
What's my role in the afterlife?
