Wannabe Lyrics by Aaron California

The 2 Straps Chronicles: Chapter 1

2020

He just wants to be cool
He never really cared about school
Never learned to play by the rules
He just wants to be cool
Even if it's acting a fool
You never really know what he'll do
He just wants to be cool
It don't matter, nothing that he won't do
Nothing that he won't do
He just wants to be cool
It don't matter, nothing that he won't do
He just wants to be cool
It started back when little homie was a second grader
All the kids thought he was cool cuz he would sketch on paper
Hе would act the class clown like it was second naturе
He didn't care that he'd get lectured later
Nope
That didn't change, he always acted a dope
Getting referrals from all his teachers, parents lost all their hope
But on the playground he was steady cracking some jokes
On the blacktop blowing some smoke-like grown folks
Then on through high school he did whatever he wanted to
Skipping first period, lunch, and even summer school
Didn't even show up for a month or two
Til he dropped out, I guess he had some better stuff to do
Now all the homies headed to the university
Got him tripping out like "what's up with the third degree?
Day ones, now y'all act like you ain't heard of me?"
The only place to call him back for work was Burger King
He just wants to be cool
He never really cared about school
Never learned to play by the rules
He just wants to be cool
Even if it's acting a fool
You never really know what he'll do
He just wants to be cool
It don't matter, nothing that he won't do
Nothing that he won't do
He just wants to be cool
It don't matter, nothing that he won't do
He just wants to be cool
Now our homie has to figure it out
Blew all his cash on weed so Pops is kicking him out
His coworker said she lives in a house
Maybe she will let him sleep on the couch
Thing is though that she's got two kids
And enough of her own problems now to go through his
But as long as he keeps coming through with rent
He has a place that he can lay his head
God bless
Of course for homie that was never enough
He wanted to be cool, he started selling some drugs
She told him not to bring that shit to her pad
She's had enough dealing with felons and thugs
But you know homie and he had to be a rebel
She had to kick him out after she caught him packing metal
He went out on the run with too many scores unsettled
Until the day one found him, now he's dancing with the devil
He just wants to be cool
He never really cared about school
Never learned to play by the rules
He just wants to be cool
Even if it's acting a fool
You never really know what he'll do
He just wants to be cool
It don't matter, nothing that he won't do
Nothing that he won't do
He just wants to be cool
It don't matter, nothing that he won't do
He just wants to be cool
