The Great Worm Race Lyrics by Colleen Kitchen

2022

[Verse 1a: Colleen Kitchen]
I heard of this colossal small town worm race
In Toowomba Queensland very far away
I think they're rather sending up the Melbourne Cup
Because they hold it on exactly the same day
[Verse 1b: Colleen Kitchen]
I'll go to the TAB, and I'll lay down some money
As for the Melbourne Cup I can not go there
At the Melbourne Cup you gotta dress up fancy
And I've not a thing appropriate to wear. I'm goin' to the
[Chorus 1: Colleen Kitchen]
Crow's Nest Queensland Worm Race. I've got the
Fastest worm in Melbourne watch her/him run. Goin' to the
Crow's Nest Queensland Worm Racе
Gonna take my winner, Slimy Two Five Onе
[Verse 2a: Colleen Kitchen]
Training for the race in my back garden
Learning who is fast and who is slow
The fast worms get to party in a private jar
And as for the slow ones, back in the bin they go
[Verse 2b: Colleen Kitchen]
I tried 3 meter worms from Korumburra
But Eisinia Fetida is the way to go
My little Slimies left their arses in the dust
Being so massive, bound to make them slow. Goin' to the
[Chorus 1: Colleen Kitchen]
Crow's Nest Queensland Worm Race. I've got the
Fastest worm in Melbourne watch her/him run. Goin' to the
Crow's Nest Queensland Worm Race
Gonna take my winner, Slimy Two Five One
[Verse 3a: Colleen Kitchen]
Qualifying heats I've found my fastest
From my landlady's composting bin
Couldn't name them all, so they're all just called "Slimy."
Number 251 is for the win
[Verse 3b: Colleen Kitchen]
In these troubled times I cannot go to Crow's Nest
'Cos it's too many kilometres from here
So I'll have a few friends over in the back yard
I'll have 'em place their bets and drink some beer. We're gonna have the...
[Chorus 2: Colleen Kitchen]
Brunswick Melbourne Worm Race
Can your worm beat my Slimy? Oh what fun. Hangin' at the
Brunswick Melbourne Worm Race
The winner's always Slimy Two Five One
{Outro: Colleen Kitchen]
The winner's always Slimy Two Five One
Two Five One
Two Five One
