Last year, around April 5th
I wrote a few letters and made a few lists
One of my passwords to all of my shit
And one for the belongings that I wanna give
The letters were written to brother and sister
And mama and daddy, and all of my friends
And I wrote a few jokes and a couple of references
Only the one with the letter would get
But then, everything flipped
The writing got darker, the mood saw a switch
I started ranting, I started to vent
I wrote "sorry" so much, I forgot what it meant
In some of the letters, I seemed kind of pissed
Like R Kelly's girlfriend gave the paper a kiss
And then some of the letters were stained with my tears
'Cause I get emotional when I reminisce
'Cause last year, around April 6th
I planned to sneak off and speed off in my whip
I planned to leave early, like five or like six
I planned to go drive to the Coronado bridge
I planned to go park by the edge and then sit
And then think about all of the things Imma miss
I planned to just leave and go swim with the fish
I planned to jump off of the bridge and then quit
But last year, around April 6th
My mama saw me 'bout to leave out the crib
I said I was going to work, that's a fib
She don't even know the shit I almost did
She told me how much that she loves me
How proud she is of me, how grateful she is I'm her kid
And so I sat down and then I faked a call that
Somebody told me they could cover my shift

Life is fucking wild
Don't let them lie to you, most of the time, this shit isn't beautiful
For a lot of motherfuckers, they spend hours of it stuck in traffic
On the way home from work
Niggas suffer
Bad shit happens to good people
It seems like great things happen for terrible people
And those of us fortunate enough to have shelter, food, all that
Still have our own set of struggles, too
We struggle to pay the bills, we chase money, love, success
To no avail, a lot of the time
And because of that, a lot of people forget to have fun
We are literally here for no real reason
And yeah, you got people who believe in a greater purpose
And religion, and all that
And I'm not here to throw my two cents in on that
What I'm trying to say is
None of us asked to be here
So, now that we here, fuck it
We're all going to die anyways, right?
Fun isn't just about laughing at the Chappelle show, or going on a roller coaster, or being chased by the cops
Well, it can be, but
It's about finding joy
Joy in the moments between the chaos
It can be something as ordinary as eating your favorite flavor of ice cream
Or dancing in your room at night to your favorite song
It's about being authentic
About letting go of the facade and embracing the messy, imperfect beauty of our true selves
And a lot of people will tell you not to get hung up on small stuff
Shit like relationships and material things and proving other people wrong
In my opinion, fuck that
Nigga, we human
Go ahead and talk your shit
Go ahead and chase you some money, go 'head and daydream about that girl that doesn't know you exist
Reminisce about your childhood and how things used to be easier
Or maybe things were hard and it fucks with you to this day
I feel like I don't have enough time to say all this
So, Imma keep it short
It's okay to feel like shit
It's okay to feel like you're on top of the world
It's okay to chase material things
Get that fucking chain that you want
It's okay to go to college and read books, if that's what you're into
It's okay to get rich
It's okay to be a broke ass nigga
But if you haven't caught on by now
The most important thing
Is to make sure that at the end of your life
In between all these experiences, and all these things, and all these feelings
Make sure you made space to have fun
That's what I did
