Remember (Ecclesiastes Chapter 12) Lyrics by Fred Lynch

Remember
Ecclesiastes Chapter 12
1. Remember your Creator—Remember the One who made you.
Remember in the days of your youth while you’re a minor (that’s major)
Before your days out weigh ya—
Before the years loose their savor and you loose your flavor
2. Before the sun, the moon and the stars grow dark and the vapors they don’t taper
After the rain the clouds increase;
3. After the police retire and retreat; after the strong man’s grip gets weak.
That’s when all the grinding ceases;
4. That’ when immediately the doors to the streets are closed to shut out the indecent.
That’s when the sounds of the gears die down from their screeching.
What happened to the birds singing?
What happened songs period, what happened to their meaning?
5. Lost is the courage to stand up high and look down low
Lost is the nerve to go and step out your front door.
Lost furthermore to all libido; you’re fragile and grayed out and old as a dog:
You’re on your own way now to your eternal home;
And then you’re gone…only remembered by the mourners’ song
6. Remember Him now before the silver cord snaps; after the golden bowl crashes;
That’s when the water pitcher is smashed; what happens when the well wheel cracks
7. Lost was the form that you had back into the sand;
You’re breath was a loan from God and it’s gone back.
8. Meaningless, meaningless…the observer announces.
None of this accounts or makes anymore sense.
9. Not only was the Observer wise and prudent, but he gained students
He passed everything that he examined to his people—
Many proverbs, riddles and precepts and epithets.
10. With all of that the Teacher kept the tightest flow so he could teach it
Recording the truth like art from heart to pen to parchment
So generations from now could still speak it;
11. The words of the wise can spark men, stimulate him to hearken
Smart enough to hit the nail on the head embed you
And keep you guarded from life’s leopards like a loving Shepherd
12. So be warned against stepping towards alternative references:
Man will never stop coming up with newer, bigger, brighter messages
And to try to exhaust it all will leave you exhausted so:
13. Now after you’ve listened and you’ve heard all my chatter;
Let me break it down to the conclusion of this matter:
Recognize God and do what He Commands
This is the assignment from the divine to man
14. Cause in the end God will scan every deed
Those blatantly seen as well as the little secret things
And He’ll judge it for what for what it really is
Not for what we think it seems.
