Daddy Don’t You Walk So Fast Lyrics by Jimmy Jackson

Rollin’ Dice

0

[Verse 1]
The love between the two of us was dying
And it got so bad, I knew I had to leave
Halfway down the highway when I turned around and saw
My little daughter, she was running after me
She was crying
[Chorus]
Daddy don't you walk so fast
Daddy, please don't you walk so fast
(Daddy don't you walk so fast)
Daddy, daddy slow down so
(Slow down so, makin' me run)
You're makin' me run
Daddy, please don't you walk so fast
(Daddy don't you walk so fast)
[Verse 2]
Oh god, it was getting to me
It breaks my heart to tell my little daughter
That her daddy have to run
And catch a train, yeah
She had no way of knowing
I would leave this home for good, yeah
I turned around and there she was again
Shе was pleadin' to me, she said
[Chorus]
Daddy don't you walk so fast, shе was onto me
Daddy don't you walk so fast
Oh daddy, slow down so (Slow down so, makin' me run)
Because you're makin' me run
Daddy, don't you please walk so fast
(Daddy don't you walk so fast)
[Verse 3]
That was only for the sake of my little daughter
Oh god, I just had to turn around
Back there and back then, yeah
I'll try to start a new life with the mother of my child
You know why, I couldn't bear to hear those words again
She was leanin' on me, she said
[Chorus]
Daddy, oh daddy, oh daddy (Daddy don't you walk so fast)
Daddy I love you, daddy (Daddy don't you walk so fast)
I love you too, honey
She said "Daddy, slow down so"
(Slow down so, makin' me run)
"And daddy, you're makin' me run"
(Daddy don't you walk so fast)
Daddy, please don't you walk so fast"
[Outro]
Daddy (Daddy don't you walk so fast)
Oh god, her little face is like that
(Daddy, don't you walk, so fast)
I just had to turn around, and I'm gonna try to make it
Oh god, give me strength!
Give me strength, god give me strength!
(Slow down so, makin' me run)
Give me more chance
(Daddy don't you walk so fast)
Oh god dang it
(Daddy don't you walk so fast)
