I Make Music for Jesus Lyrics by Jonah Burch

2020

[Intro]
I make music for Jesus, yes I do
I make music for Jesus, yes it's true
[Chorus 1]
I make music for Jesus, yes I do (yes I do)
I make music for Jesus, yes it's true
[Verse 1]
I make music for the people that listen
I make plans, but they ain't hold up 'cause I can't keep up with them
I make deals with the Lord when I run outta blessings
"Excuse me waiter, do you have a holy water beverage?"
I'm a little parched, give me a second, I'll clear my throat
I'm feelin' a little cold, might needa blow my nose
Whenever I'm getting tired the devil below me knows
So I never forget my dose, of the holy ghost!
I'm never told that it gets easier when you're old, but I know
The devil would pay a lot for that soul
Jesus my closest companion cause He knows how it goes
That divine intervention got me feelin' special
Said I'm readin' that book man, ain't no need to check up
But he insist to keep my temporary bliss in control
Growing up, I listen to 'crae, Andy, Dilly, and Raul
And you should know who they are 'cause I know God know who they are
[Chorus 2]
I make music for Jesus, yes I do (yes I do)
I make music for Jesus, yes it's true
[Verse 2]
I got this funny feeling, I'm sealing all of my deals
And ain't nobody gonna stick around 'cause they all be children
I said I'm ready to grow up, but Jesus be thinking different
He said you ain't ready to grow up 'cause them grown ups ain't believing
So that made me start thinking how can I step into this mission
Let go of the youthful ignorance and hold on to the spirit
And the blissful thinking (hmm)
I know I ain't the best but I keep believing, heart beating in my chest
Been a while since I've been to church or to see a sermon
Need to step up my game cause Christian girls another type of person (yeah)
Nothing wrong with missing the church and the flirting, don't forget God still sees what happens behind closed curtains
I make music for Jesus and for the lost and the weakest
And for the kind and the broken-hearted and the soul-seeking
And for my family and friends 'cause they my strongest beacons
(except for Tyler cause he's a heathen)
[Chorus 3]
I make music for Jesus, yes I do
I make music for Jesus, yes it's true
