Playing Pretend Lyrics by Light Speed Highway

0

[VERSE 1]
WE WERE ALRIGHT WE WERE OKAY
RUNNING AROUND WE LOVED TO PLAY
WE DID NOT CARE WE WERE NOT AFRAID
OUR MINDS WOULD TAKE US FAR AWAY
WE GREW UP AND WE GOT OLD
CASHED OUR CHIPS DECIDED TO FOLD
THE DREAMS WE HAD DON'T MATTER NOW
THE ONLY THING WE CARED ABOUT
IS DOING THE LAUNDRY AND PAYING THE BILLS
MAKING SURE JIMMY GETS HIS MEALS
LIFE'S SO FAST IT'S SO SURREAL
TIME GOES ON WE START TO FEEL
[Chorus]
WE'RE PLAYING PRETEND
HERE WE GO AGAIN
SKIPPING TO THE END
TO START ALL OVER AGAIN
WE'VE ALWAYS BEEN
RUNNING AGAINST THE WIND
SO DON'T LOOK BACK
WE CAN'T GO BACK
TO WHO WE WERE BACK THEN
[VERSE 2]
LOOKING BACK NOW WHERE DID IT GO?
IMAGINATION DOESN'T SHOW
OUR DREAMS USED TO BE MAGICAL
BUT NOW WE'RE THINKING PRACTICAL
I WISH WE COULD GO TO A PLACE
DISAPPEAR WITHOUT A TRACE
TO THE LAND WHERE WE ARE FROM
WHERE OUR LIVES HAD JUST BEGUN
WE WON'T HAVE TO CARRY THE WORLD
WE CAN RUN AND DANCE AND TWIRL
I WISH THAT WE COULD PAUSE THIS FIGHT
AND LET GO FOR JUST ONE NIGHT
[Chorus]
WE'RE PLAYING PRETEND
HERE WE GO AGAIN
SKIPPING TO THE END
TO START ALL OVER AGAIN
WE'VE ALWAYS BEEN
RUNNING AGAINST THE WIND
SO DON'T LOOK BACK
WE CAN'T GO BACK
TO WHO WE WERE BACK THEN
[Chorus]
WE'RE PLAYING PRETEND
HERE WE GO AGAIN
SKIPPING TO THE END
TO START ALL OVER AGAIN
WE'VE ALWAYS BEEN
RUNNING AGAINST THE WIND
SO DON'T LOOK BACK
WE CAN'T GO BACK
TO WHO WE WERE BACK THEN
[Chorus]
WE'RE PLAYING PRETEND
HERE WE GO AGAIN
SKIPPING TO THE END
TO START ALL OVER AGAIN
WE'VE ALWAYS BEEN
RUNNING AGAINST THE WIND
SO DON'T LOOK BACK
WE CAN'T GO BACK
TO WHO WE WERE BACK THEN
