In the land of the Boom Bap (MC’s in Wonderland) Lyrics by Mehdi Cee and Reckonize Real

The Antidote Saudade

2020

I stepped into an alley
And I found a beat tape
Rewinded it to the top
Pushed stop and pressed play
It clunked into position
And I started hearing a hiss
Then the boom, the bap
Those high hats hitting it crisp
That bass sliding in
Hear the rapper go 'uh'
The loop synchronized
Follow the swing from the drums
Used to hear a lot of music
But it never really captured me
Like the first time I heard a dope rhyme
On a beat enraptured me
So I studied to the fullest
Finally got my masters
Took twenty years to obtain
The game changed since thereafter
Used to ride on the bus
When I was on the way to school
For first period I was deaf
From blasting my ears with some tunes
A tribe called quest
KRS and the Wu
Large Pro, de la soul
Gangstarr and jeru
Were regulars at the time
That we didn't have the internet
Used to bootleg off your friends
Missing the moments in retrospect
Uhhh
We here stiller
20 years later
But a million times iller
A billion lines ripped up
Scrilla with some sick rhymes
To explain exactly why you shouldn't fuck
With cats like six nine
Realized the best way
To get ahead in this rap shit
Is to collaborate with the realest
And recognize who is plastic
My balls are made of brass
My mettle is titanium
My soul is made of gold
And my brain is vibranium
In the land of the boombap
You find the sweetest fruit
Nutrition at it's highest
Rhymes with the deepest roots
Timberland boots
Always stomping imposters
I'm the motherfucking medicine
You can call me the doctor
A lot of cats lost themselves
Trying to be the king of the hill
Kings keep inviting me
Cause I'm writing these with the feels
Been adopted by royalty
Every step of the way
And anointed as a knight
Standing guard at the dock of the bay
Salute
To all the best out there
Always getting mad props
No matter who knows bout my clout fair
I never really got in this
So I could get fame and fortune
And lose myself in the bullshit
In the quest for outrageous portions
On the real
I just want enough
To get by in this life
Get by through the lies
They keep spitting despite
The current state of Hip Hop
I really want to take it back
But on the real I'd rather stay here
In the land of the boom bap
