Can’t Wait to Grow Old! Lyrics by Navid Jamshidi

The Sermon

2024

I thought as a kid, a PS2 in my hand
Would make me the happiest in all the land
A glowing screen, a world to explore
I thought it would bring me joy, forevermore
But soon I realized, as time slipped away
The happiness it gave me couldn’t stay
It was fleeting, like all things bright
The joy would fade, out of sight
I grew older, and thought the same
That money and women would light up my flame
But just like the PS2, the joy didn’t last
A temporary high, fading fast
Now I see the truth I once ignored
These things are nothing but fleeting rewards
I’ve made thе same mistake, once again
Chasing tеmporary happiness, time and again
The glow, the haze, it fades away
A fleeting joy that cannot stay
I’m chasing shadows in the night
Caught in a loop, lost in the light
I grew older, and thought the same
That money and women would light up my flame
But just like the PS2, the joy didn’t last
A temporary high, fading fast
I thought as a kid, a PS2 in my hand
Would make me the happiest in all the land
A glowing screen, a world to explore
I thought it would bring me joy, forevermore...
(Slowly fading out...)
