The Last Day of Summer (Part 1) [Original] Lyrics by Original Cast of The Lightning Thief Musical

The Lightning Thief Musical (1 Hour Version)

2014

[PERCY]
What do you do when the quest has ended?
What do you do when the battle's won?
So many questions left unanswered
So many things still left undone
What do you do when it's up to you to choose?
Has something ended or begun?
Stay or go
Pick one
[ANNABETH]
Do I stay because it's safer?
Or back to the home I left behind?
Training and training for a piece of the action
It doesn't bring you peace of mind
What do you say when you push it away, your family?
Are you scared what you'll find?
[GROVER]
Where do you go when it's over?
[ALL]
What do you do when you've come to the last day of summer?
[PERCY, spoken]
Luke!
[LUKE, spoken]
Well, if it isn't the big hero?
[PERCY, spoken]
Yeah, I've barely seen you since I got back. You avoiding me?
[LUKE, spoken]
Of course not. What's on your mind?
[PERCY, spoken]
I need your advice. Chiron's been hinting I could use a lot more training
[LUKE, spoken]
I get it. Camp's fun for the summer, but there's bigger things out there
[LUKE]
I didn't know what lies out there
With a (?) you'll finally find some space
Stay and do your parents' bidding
They won't bother to show their face
It's time we make the world our own
Time someone put them in their place!
[ALL]
Where do you go when it's over?
What do you do when it comes to the last day of summer?
[LUKE, spoken]
I've been here ever since I was a kid
[ENSEMBLE]
(repeating under Luke's dialogue)
Summer, summer
[LUKE]
I did everything they asked, and for what?! This world will never be ours as long as our parents are in charge! Ares thought it was just about starting a war between the gods, but was always bigger than that! It's about ending them!
[PERCY]
You're the lightning thief!
