[Letra de "La loca del Bequeló"]
[Intro]
En la enramada de un rancho viejo
Nido de gauchos cerca del Yí
Guitarra antigua, tierna cantaba
La triste historia que hoy canto aquí:
[Verso 1]
- ¿Sabéis paisanos, por qué ando errante
Bajo estos bosques del Bequeló?
Venid, paisanos, venid conmigo;
Diré mi historia junto al fogón
[Verso 2]
Allá en la loma como un calvario
Veréis ruinas y un triste ombú;
Fueron mi cuna, fueron mi estancia
Fueron mi nido verde y azul
[Verso 3]
Tenía un esposo que ardiente amaba
Y un hijo bello que era su Dios
¡Ay, qué contenta perdiera el cielo
Si yo pudiera ver a los dos!
[Verso 4]
Una mañana... ¡Maldita sea!
Cuando esta guerra se pronunció
Su esposo tierno le dio un abrazo
Montó a caballo triste y partió
[Verso 5]
Aún me parece, lo ven mis ojos
De lejas lomas, haciendo "¡adiós!"
¡Ay! mis paisanos, en ese día
Perdí un pedazo del corazón...
[Verso 6]
Luego una tarde llegó un sargento:
Y al hijo amado se dirigió
¿ves esta lanza? fue de tu padre
Por su divisa bravo murió
[Verso 7]
Tómala y vamos, no te demores
Que en las cuchillas se duerme el sol
¡Ay! Mis paisanos, en esa tarde
Quedó mi pecho sin corazón
[Verso 8]
Cuando yo muera, clavad paisanos
Bajo aquel árbol mi humilde cruz...
Que allí murieron mis dichas todas
Allí he perdido mi juventud
[Coda]
Esta es la historia que una guitarra
De un rancho viejo triste lloró
¡Ay cuántas locas habrá en mi patria
Como la loca del Bequeló!
