Refresh Your Memory Lyrics by Salty Vixen

2024

[Verse 1:]
I know you don’t remember, but I never forgot, The hurt you left behind, the damage that you wrought. Back in 93 & 94, you pushed me to the locker, and told me to die
While you laughed with your friends, I didn’t understand why
[Pre-Chorus:]
All because of a rumor, the lies that they spun
You turned my crush to darkness, and the damage was done
Instead of seeking truth, you went too far that day
I almost took my life, while you kept playing your game
[Chorus:]
Let me refresh your memory, cast your mind to the past
You called me the worst, but I’m rising at last
The whispers that haunted me, I’m breaking the chains
With every note I play, I’ll reclaim what remains
[Verse 2:]
Another friend of yours said, "Life is beautiful,"
Those words became my lifeline, helped me feel whole
But when I found success, instead of being proud
You threw insults my way, and I felt small in the crowd
[Pre-Chorus:]
Called me a dog, said I was ugly and plain
Those words sunk deep, left me feeling the pain
In the clarinet challenge, you blocked my chance to shine
I lost my seat, my place, but I’ll take back what’s mine
[Chorus:]
Let me refresh your memory, cast your mind to the past
You called me the worst, but I’m rising at last
The whispers that haunted me, I’m breaking the chains
With every note I play, I’ll reclaim what remains
[Bridge:]
Why did you hate me? What did I ever do?
Just a girl with a crush, trying to get through
Your power was a weapon, but I’m taking it back
With the strength of my spirit, I’m finding my track
[Chorus:]
Let me refresh your memory, cast your mind to the past
You called me the worst, but I’m rising at last
The whispers that haunted me, I’m breaking the chains
With every note I play, I’ll reclaim what remains
[Outro:]
So here’s to the future, I’ll shine like the sun
