It makes me think of Walter Anderson
Who would paint every carcass in hopes of giving life back to them

I don't have anything but a guilty heart
And a little sympathy for the damned
I hold my captives in a plexiglass pen
Where the crabs and the fishes bump their noses and around they swim
He took a swallow and he took care of him
Until he woke up one day to find him deader than a sea-swept limb
Highlights the problem I've been having again
Where possession and love make for an uneasy contradiction
It makes me think about the person I am
And how the things that I want can go much deeper than the ways that I sin
And I just want to love you
It sounds so easy to do
I want to learn from the things
That Walter put them through
Called him an object lesson
But I don't have a clue
How to be who I want
And not a man who has values that he could never meet should he choose
