Shut ’Em Down Lyrics by The Active Set

Lights

2015

I played the part I was given
You’re a stand-in, you’re a substitute at best
Fighting to keep it together
You were struggling and you failed to pass her test
Aching, I want to keep trying
You’re a has-been, nostalgia is your end
We don’t need the lights tonight, we don’t need the lights, shut ’em down
Days pass, it’s not getting easier
You were searching for someone to fill your heart
I tried my hardest to please her
You’re pathetic, you were doomed right from the start
We don’t need the lights tonight, we don’t need the lights, shut ’em down
Earliest time I saw you in the light
I was in awe of you, I had to make you mine
Until I die it will burn me up inside
I’m trying to move on, but nothing seems to make a difference
I’m left alone with an empty heart that beats uneven
I’m left alone with an empty bed at night
I’m left alone with an empty dream that I was someone special to you
