Sinking Ships Lyrics by The Plastic Smile

Hearts & Souls / Flesh & Bones

2021

So this is what it feels like
Bursting into flames and burning down
Figured it to be much more enlightening after all
What haunts you during the day
Is devastating at night
Take a step outside the frame
And realize what you´ve become
As sinking ships are touching ground
And the dirt has finally settled down
You can see the treasure for the first time
No hearts of gold, just tortured souls
You don´t seem to be aware
Of the despair you left us in
When did it get so fucking cold?
All I know is that summer´s gone
And we have changed along with it
I never thought I´d be so
Easily confused, so way off course
In the darkest night it´s hard to keep track of the light
Like the sirens on the cliff some things are hard to resist
Choose the path of perdition with confidence and crash again
When too much load keeps pulling you down
When you´re drifting and nowhere bound
And there´s noone left now for your rescue
No hearts of gold, just tortured souls
You don´t seem to be aware
Of the despair you left us in
When did it get so fucking cold?
All I know is that summer´s gone
And we have changed along with it
Tough times, let go, what´s left, you´ll know
When the dirt´s finally settled down
Shipwrecked, survived, hearts closed, eyes tired
When you´re drifting and nowhere bound
Deep down I see no gold, as your body turns cold
In the darkness without a sound
No hearts of gold, just tortured souls
You don´t seem to be aware
Of the despair you left us in
When did it get so fucking cold?
All I know is that summer´s gone
And we have changed along with it
No hearts of gold, just tortured souls
You don´t seem to be aware
Of the despair you left us in
When did it get so fucking cold?
All I know is that summer´s gone
And we have changed along with it
