Bad Words Lyrics by The.Collective (Rap)

[Hook]
Follow me through a few narratives as I make comparative observations I’d like to share them with you / I only got one imperative / I call it the S word / submit (there it is) (X3) / if your Bible is open to Ruth 1 / then point it out with your thumb and show someone (there it is) /
[Verse 1]
Back when Judges were running it / famine hit the land then a husband and fam leave for sustenance / they moved from Judah to Moab / soon the two have no dad / the sons of the mother formally known as Naomi / the three had to grieve without their homies / the sons find Moabite wives so they ain’t lonely / then only ten years later the sons die / just wives left / widows with no men to provide now / Naomi’s plotting to hit the road see she hears crops are growing properly back at home chief / and since the Lord’s with His people that’s where she wants to be too / something the daughters-in-law should think through / she’s telling em (go back to your mothers) / but Ruth won’t be persuaded to leave like the other one / she pledged a connection of great depth / may God kill me if we’re separated by anything but death (Ruth 1:17) /
[Hook]
Follow me through a few narratives as I make comparative observations I’d like to share them with you / I only got one imperative / I call it the F word / faithfulness (there it is) (X3) / if you’re in 2 Samuel 15 / start after the big scheme then point and scream (there it is) /
[Verse 2]
King David is leaving / his son’s been deceiving and stealing the hearts of men in the kingdom / so in effort to keep peace him and his people are fleeing / including some foreigners from the region / but a certain man in particular causes David a big concern and got him wondering what he’s dipping for / asking (you sure you wanna roll when we don’t know where we’re going and you have been exiled from your home?) / then at that moment he spoke up saying / as long as God lives I’m rolling with ya fa sho bruh (2 Samuel 15:21) / yeah I paraphrased the quote but please keep your focus / in light of the verse prior you notice much / when I started making comparisons what I saw was embarrassing / this kind of commitment is really rare my friend / so think about it for a minute while I’m spitting the hook bruh / I still got another story to look up /
[Hook]
Follow me through a few narratives as I make comparative observations I’d like to share them with you / I only got one imperative / I call it the C word / commitment (there it is) (X3) / if you’re open to 2 Kings 2 / whether English or Hebrew then show the people (there it is) /
[Verse 3]
Elijah’s about to be taken up / and Elisha his disciple’s committed to not forsake him but / Elijah’s suggesting he stay because he’s got a journey ahead of him but Elisha is not persuaded much / that’s when he makes the statement / as you and the Lord live I ain’t gon’ dip (2 Kings 2:2) / so both take the trip / after they traveled to Bethel he says / I’m going to Jericho and you should stay (2 Kings 2:4) / but he’s quick to tell him no / he repeats himself once more then / after they go to Jericho he tells him he going to Jordan / but his commitment still isn’t thwarted / after he says it a third time he’s promised to be rewarded / for our purposes here’s where it ends / but when is the last time you’ve seen this commitment outside of marriages? / it’s just something for us to wrestle with / take it with grace and may it change you into a better vessel kid /
[Hook]
Follow me through a few narratives as I make comparative observations I’d like to share them with you / I only got one imperative / I call it the D word / discipline (there it is) (X3) / if you're waiting for time to meditate on the rhymes I just relayed then recline and say (there it is) /
