An all-encompassing tempest ensues
Wrecking his fading spirit as he persists
Leaving a resilient psyche to wane
Treading water in order to abide this trial
Our jaded dweller pleads for adjudication
Importuning providence to escape this torrent
Forever running yet never moving forward
Tirelessly working to evade the vortex
An old beggar condemned to stay on his knees
Our idol’s tired heart swells once more
Surging yet halted swiftly in its pace
His eforts drowned by the rising tides
But scant monuments are left in his wake
Amidst remnants of his companions on this search
A meager remembrance of an expired journey
Any sign of havoc past forsaken
