Ain’t the Thing to Do Lyrics by Zapp

Zapp V

1989

[Verse 1]
The time has come, oh
For this man to choose one
But it's easier said than done
'Cause one girl, she has my son
I must face it, I just can't run
'Cause one girl is pushing for all or none
[Pre-Chorus]
I can't keep on
I can't say "so long"
I know it's wrong
[Chorus]
It ain't the thing to do
(I'm in love with two)
She might be number two
(But I love her too)
It ain't the thing to do
(No man should ever love two...)
She might be number two
(But I love her too)
[Verse 2]
I'm trying hard to be strong
But both my options seem wrong (so wrong)
I can tell (I can tell) they both love me, yes I can
But I can't set number two free, oh no (oh no)
I know, that I should set her free
But she's the one with my baby
[Pre-Chorus]
I can't keep on
I can't say "so long"
I know it's wrong
[Chorus]
It ain't the thing to do
(It ain't the thing to do, I know)
She might be number two
(She might be number two, but I love her too)
It ain't the thing to do
(I know, I know, I know, I know, I know it's wrong)
She might be number two
(But I love her too...)
[Verse 3]
I'm gonna be a man for sure
So I've got to choose one door, one door
I just can't lie, no no, so I'm gonna make it right
I'm prayin' for the strength to tell her tonight
But when I see her face, the truth just won't come
[Pre-Chorus]
I can't keep on
I can't say "so long"
I know it's wrong
[Outro]
It ain't the thing to do
(How many times, how many times have you said)
She might be number two
(It's morning, oh, morning, morning, morning)
It ain't the thing to do
(It ain't the thing to do, I know)
She might be number two
(I know I, I know I just can't, I just can't)
It ain't the thing to do
(I just can't, I know I can't, I know, oh-ho...)
