Back to Bass-iks Lyrics by Zapp

Zapp V

1989

[Intro]
Hey, watch out for your foot!
Tell me who's that, man
Can you go to Beachside?
(Hit it!)
Gettin' back, gettin' back, back to the bass-iks
Gettin' back, gettin' back, back to the bass-iks
Gettin' back, gettin' back, back to the bass-iks
(RAYMOND!) gettin' back, gettin' back... oh, shoot...
(Raymond, in this house!)
Oh, uh... oh man, I gotta go home...
(I mean, right now!) mama callin'
(Im'ma tell your daddy!)
Raymond... Raymond T. Funkster!
Boy, don't you hear your mama calling you?
You gotta go to chuch in the morning, boy!
I don't wanna get you out of jail! Out there hangin' with George Clinton and Frankie Lymon, and... get on in here!
(Hey, come on Ray!) ...wait a minute, may- maybe we can get him to come back outside, man, and do somethin' funky with us
[Chorus]
(Ray, come on Ray!)
(Ray, come on Ray!)
Bama-lama, lama-lama-lama-ding-dong
Bama-lama, lama-lama-lama-ding
Bama-lama, lama-lama-lama-ding-dong
Bama-lama, lama-lama-lama-ding
I'm gonna get back, back to the bass-iks
[Verse 1]
There's a feeling that comes over me
Every time I hear the bass in my ear
Now, it's a feeling I'd like to share with you
So come and travel with me back to the bass-iks
[Chorus]
(Ray, come on Ray!)
(Ray, come on Ray!)
Bama-lama, lama-lama-lama-ding-dong
Bama-lama, lama-lama-lama-ding
Bama-lama, lama-lama-lama-ding-dong
Bama-lama, lama-lama-lama-ding
I'm gonna get back, back to the bass-iks
Back, ooh...
I'm gonna get back, back to the bass-iks
Sho-boo-do-bop, bop, bop
Sho-boo-do-bop, bop, bop
[Verse 2]
When your life begins to bring you down
Try to remember where you started from
And if you remember where you started from
You will soon find your way back to the bass-iks
[Chorus]
(Ray, come on Ray!)
(Ray, come on Ray!)
Bama-lama, lama-lama-lama-ding-dong
Bama-lama, lama-lama-lama-ding
Bama-lama, lama-lama-lama-ding-dong
Bama-lama, lama-lama-lama-ding
I'm gonna get back, back to the bass-iks
Back, ooh...
I'm gonna get back, back to the bass-iks
[Verse 3]
Have you ever noticed, when you hear these sounds
How they make your body surely want to move
You need to remember just what makes you dance
Yes you, will come back...
Back to the bass-iks, back to the bass-iks
[Bridge]
(Ray, come on Ray!)
(Ray, come on Ray!)
Tear the roof off, we're gonna tear the roof off the mothersucker
Tear the roof off the sucker
Bama-lama, lama-lama-lama-ding-dong
Bama-lama, lama-lama-lama-ding
Bow-wow-wow-yippie-yo-yippie-yeah
Bow-wow-yippie-yo-yippie-yeah
(Back, get back, get back, get back
Get back, get back) ooh... (back to the bass-iks)
Said I'm gonna get back
Don't you know I've gotta get back
Gotta get back, gotta do it
(Get back) said I'm gonna get back
(Back to the bass-iks) said I'm...
[Outro]
(Ray, come on Ray!)
(Ray, come on Ray!)
Bama-lama, lama-lama-lama-ding-dong
Bama-lama, lama-lama-lama-ding
Bama-lama, lama-lama-lama-ding-dong
Bama-lama, lama-lama-lama-ding
Bama-lama, lama-lama-lama-ding-dong
Bama-lama, lama-lama-lama-ding
Bama-lama, lama-lama-lama-ding-dong
Bama-lama, lama-lama-lama-ding
Bow-wow-wow-yippie-yo-yippie-yeah
Bow-wow-yippie-yo-yippie-yeah...
