What I wanna do—I do wanna start a poetry club with the young people
For one reason, because poetry
It-it really is kind of a…”mind-massager” to me
You know, like the Bible says “So a man thinketh, so is he”
So, it kinda helps you try to keep your mind on the right things
You know, and I want to get with some of the youth
And I want to start, um, you know, just kinda see where their mind is at
What are some of the things you think about?
What are some of the things you like?
What are some things you don’t like?
If you could be in leadership mode at your young age and change some things
What are some of the things that you’d wanna change?
And then have them put that, like, in a creative way
You know, a creative message
And I think…that would-that would kinda get, you know
Give kids something to do besides just being on these electronics and just…
You know, just…
A lot of times they just don’t do as-as much positive things as-as they should do
And I think that when, even if you’re young, if you think you’re doing something that’s making a difference
And it’s something you like to do?
And that’s-that’s real motivation to me
And so that’s kinda what I wanna do
And also…
I wish I could change the world through poetry
I mean, words are very powerful
We see it every day, we hear it every day, we read it every day
And one thing about words? They’re free
Not necessarily like freedom of speech—well, it’s kinda like freedom of speech
But, words are free
So, if you can use your words?
Just your words?
Something you don’t have to pay for?
If you can use your words to make somebody’s life better?
I think that’s motivation
And I wanna convince people of that
That’s what I wanna do
