Is it a time to focus on how they did blacks?
Is it a time to reexamine the facts?
Is it a time to mention and bring to attention that they are reason that we were held back?
Is it a time to show them that we’ve overcome?
Is it a time to showcase the battles we’ve won?
Is it a time to show them that no, we don’t owe them
But yet we still pay for the DAMAGE they’ve done?
Is it a time for our children to recognize
That they still exist, but in greater disguise?
Is it a time for our children to observe
That they are still biased and try to deny us the equal rights that we deserve?
What is black history?
Is it about us…them…or we?
Or should it be taken personally and be about I and me?
How can I make a difference?
What’s my contribution?
Am I the problem?
Am I the solution?
In my mirror who do I see?
What would I write if I wrote about me?
